Die interaktive Installation Soundtrek liefert eine alternative akustische Umwelt für die Spazierwege der Klangmanifeste 2021. Einfach auf dem Handy die entsprechende Website der Klangmanifeste besuchen, Kopfhörer aufsetzen und los geht’s: Eine generative Klangkomposition, die sich an die jeweilige Umgebung anpasst. Stark befahrene Straßen klingen anders als stille Seitengassen, Parks haben eine andere Klangatmosphäre als Einkaufsstraßen. Die wechselnden urbanen Stimmungen am Weg werden in Musik übersetzt. Die webbasierte Klanginstallation fragt laufend die individuelle Geoposition ab und passt sich dynamisch an das jeweilige Umfeld an. Eine Einladung einen Spaziergang durch ein Grätzel auf eine ganz andere Art zu erleben. Augmented Reality für die Ohren. Und wer weiß, vielleicht ist ja am Weg auch das eine oder andere akustische Osterei versteckt. ;-)

Black Unicorn ist der Nom de guerre der gemeinsamen Kunstprojekte von Irradiation und Michael Speer. Irradiation arbeitet als Klangkünstlerin, Komponistin, DJ und Mediendesignerin. Sie ist Mitbegründerin und Co-Betreiberin des 2003 ins Leben gerufenen Wiener Labels TEMP~ und hat auch selbst mehrere Alben veröffentlicht. Ihre musikalische Arbeit erforscht den Raum zwischen repetitiver und abstrakter elektronischer Musik und verbindet die losen Enden zwischen experimenteller Klangkunst und elektronischer Tanzmusik. Neben Ihren Soloarbeiten ist sie in zahlreichen Bandprojekten engagiert, darunter „Pasajera Oscura“ mit Chra oder „Hidden Shards“ mit Martina Claussen. Zu ihren Projekten zählen daneben auch immersive Installationen wie etwa „Decoherence 1.0“, eine Kollaboration mit den Physiker_Innen Gabriela Barreto Lemos und Mehul Malik. Michael Speer ist Musiker, Komponist und Journalist in Wien. Seine Arbeiten beschäftigen sich oft mit fiktiven Soundscapes und verarbeiten neben Ideen aus zeitgenössischer Musik und Jazz oft auch außermusikalische Einflüsse, etwa aus Literatur und Film. Mikolasek ist Absolvent des Lehrgangs für Computermusik an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien und studiert derzeit Komposition an der Bruckneruniversität in Linz. Neben der Produktion von „Tonbandstücken“ spielt er regelmäßig live – als composer/performer und in unterschiedlichen Bandformationen.

The interactive installation Soundtrek provides an alternative acoustic reality for the urban walks of Klangmanifeste 2021. Just go to the Soundtrek page of the Klangmanifeste website on your smartphone, plug your earbuds in, and there we go: A generative sound composition that adapts to your surroundings. Big roads sound different than quiet side streets. Parks have a different sonic atmosphere than crowded market places. Soundtrek translates the changing moods of different urban places into music. The web based sound installation uses your geoposition to dynamically adapt to your environment. An invitation to experience a walk trought the neighbourhood in a completely new way. Augmented reality for your ears. And who knows, perhaps you will even discover some hidden acoustic easter eggs.;-)

Irradiation works as a sound artist, composer, DJ and media designer and she is the initiator and co-manager of the viennese label TEMP~, founded in 2003. She has published several EP’s and two albums. Her musical work is best described as a permanent exploration of the space between repetitive and abstract electronic music. Her music moved towards experimental sound studies over the last years, yet without losing the dance floor from sight. She joins the loose ends between electronic dance music and acousmatic improvisation. Irradiation also creates immersive installations, e.g. “Decoherence 1.0”, which is a collaboration with the Physicists Gabriela Barreto Lemos and Mehul Malik. Her current band projects include “Pasajera Oscura” with Chra, “Hidden Shards” with Martina Claussen and “Black Unicorn” with Michael Speer. Michael Mikolasek is a composer/performer and journalist based in Vienna. His pieces are often cycles of imaginary soundscapes and are influenced by contemporary music and jazz as well as by other sources, like literature and film. He has studied computer music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and currently studies composition at Anton Bruckner University in Linz.
